Dublin Airport Shopping

I am travelling to dublin airport this week and will be in terminal 2 for the first time.

I am in desperate need of a good pair of sunglasses and am wondering what options do I have in terminal 2?

Is there many shops that sell sunglasses in terminal 2 or would I be better off buying a pair somewhere before I go to the airport.

Is there many shops in terminal in general?

Recommend you buy them before you get to the airport. A relation of mine worked in T2 during the construction and said whenever a shop opened it was always quite expensive. So, shop before you reach T2.

Hmmmm okay. But aren't all airport shops duty free making them a lot cheaper than every other retailer?

Maybe they were expensive just when T2 opened no?

Thanks Dr. Dre but all airport shops have a name of being very expensive one way or the other. My relation has travelled the world and says the same thing happens everywhere! Good luck :eek:

Sorry Laptop1 but I really don't understand how they could be more expensive.

I mean sure, sweets & drinks(coffees etc.) are more expensive but isn't it always the case that people wait until they get to the airport to buy expensive items because of them being duty free, hence a lot cheaper?

Iv'e read on a couple of threads that designer sunglasses are about 20-40€ cheaper in dublin airport than in other retailers around the country?


Anyone care to confirm this?

You can't avail of duty free prices if you're travelling within the EU, however they should have some discounts.

How much duty is on a pair of sunglasses anyway? Note I said duty, not Vat.

As I say, they should have special offers, but it might be worth giving the store a ring to ask, otherwise you're as well to shop around before you head away or wait until you get to your destination.

I know it's too late for yr query dr dre but just want to clear up a few inaccuracies in replies on the prices / value etc in dub airport... I work in retail at the airport..

Sunglass hut in both terminals offer tax free prices to all passengers regardless of destination so approx 17percent cheaper than downtown and they also have a promo with an additional discount off the second pair I think 25pc extra... Hope u discovered this yourself when u flew..

Its better if you buy them before travelling because shops that sell sunglasses are not found very often at terminal 2 of Dublin airport. So to avoid any type of inconvinence, buy it before the journey.

That's close.. their basic price is the downtown price less tax and then the extra discount for the second pair is off that... So say a pair of glasses is downtown RRP E200, it should be E200/1.21 or E165 at the airport. then buying the second pair it's 25pc off 165 so E124. So E289 for the 2.

I need new sunnies too but my tiger relic E300 Chanels mock me every time i look at them.. what was I thinking??
