    Hi

I am looking to buy a 08 focus tdci. I have narrowed it down to two models.
    1) 1.6 tdci style
    and
    2) 1.6 tdci zetec.

Can any1 tell me the difference? have they the same engines?

In 2008 the Focus Style was the base model in the Focus line up, the Style replaced the LX model. Standard equipment on the 2008 Focus Style included electric front windows, electric heated door mirrors, cd player and remote central locking. The next model up was the Zetec. The Zetec had on top of the Style - air conditioning, sports suspension, 16" alloy wheels, sports seats, front fog lights, quickclear front windscreen and tinted front headlights.

Engine wise they have the same engine but the Zetec if a UK import might be the 110bhp version as opposed to the 90bhp of the Style. If it is an Irish Zetec then most likely it is 90bhp also.

If choosing between the two of that year then the Zetec is the better equipped.

The style also has air-con and front fogs in 08.Unless the zetec was coming for the same money the style is well enough speced for most people.

Think it was MY09 that got the aircon. The only real difference is the armrest which is useless in a Focus anyway due to the high seating position.

Style only gained air con, bluetooth and alloy wheels in late 2009 as Ford upped the spec of them to sell more of them with the introduction of the scrappage scheme. Up to that the Style was basic enough being the entry model.

I have a UK 58 reg (so late 2008) TDCi 1.6 Style (110 bhp). It has air con, sports suspension, tinted windows (rear), alloys, etc. but I should also add that the car had (before I bought it) extras added onto it. So, it's worth checking what - if anything - the car has added above standard factory specification for its model if you're looking at a second hand sale. Might end up finding a gem of an asking price because "it's a lower model".

I have sold loads of 08 focus 1.6 tdci style, and have yet to have one without air-con, even old model 07 styles have air-con, the basic entry model in the uk is the studio model which is very basic and best avoided.

Are you selling English spec cars by any chance? Air con wasn't standard fit on Irish LX and the Style that replaced it until 09.

These are examples of an Irish spec 2008 Focus Style, no front fog lights, plastic wheel trim and as in the photo below no air conditioning.

Irish spec cars are completely different, and usually (though not always) we get much lower levels of standard equipment than equivalent cars in the UK and have done so for many, many years.

A current model Fiesta Style in Ireland has alloys and fogs as standard, but a UK Style doesn't. A Fiesta Titanium in Ireland has a lower spec than the Zetec in the UK though!

A UK spec Focus Edge has Bluetooth, voice control, a Thatcham Category 1 alarm not to mention a radio with digital audio broadcasting (DAB) - all of which are not standard on the Paddy spec Focus Edge, and even worse, Irish buyers can buy a model even more basic than this! Paddy spec Focuses are not available with the Ecoboost petrol engines either.

Ford aren't the only crowd who shaft Irish motorists when it comes to poor levels of standard equipment - Toyota has been selling the Auris/Corolla with air conditioning as standard in the UK since 2004 yet the Paddy spec ones STILL don't have it as standard!

The armrest is great in mine 2008 (58) model. Especially when M-way driving

If it had height adjustment it would be fine. In every Focus the seating position is too high, even on the lowest setting:)

I agree. The new model has this issue licked though.

Me personally I like the high seat position, although I admit it could be lower!
