im looking for simple backup software

im not looking for much here. im running xp. i have an external hdd. i want an application that will allow me to select numerous files /folders for backup and back them up to my external hdd manually on demand.

can anyone suggest something nice and basic that will do this? anything im trying turns out to be limited, bloated, shareware, spyware, 30 day trial, etc.

Overheal

When you buy your externals right, they come with the software you need. WD Smart and Seagate Dashboard work good. They are 2 examples of automagic backup, and unlike Windows Backup they make 1 backup image that gets revised with file changes, compared to Windows which makes a whole new image every time it runs the backup, which will eat through a backup drive before you know it.

dropbox doesnt do the job. its far too slow at syncing with upc.
