UPC box slow to come out of standyby

My UPC box is very slow to come out of standby, I think its been like that for a few weeks before the "upgrade".

When on standby it used to just go to showing the time and when you pressed the UPC button the box would power up in a few seconds.

Then a while back it seemed to go to a deeper sleep when put on standby and the display would go blank and not show the time and it would take a little longer to power on, maybe 20 seconds.

Now when you hit the UPC button you hear a noise like the fans starting up and the lights change and it appears to power up, but it just gets to the point of showing the time. This takes about a minute and then it sits there. If you press the channel buttons it will eventually power up but you could be pressing channel buttons for a minute or two. Needless to say it drives the wife nuts as I put it in standby each night.

your power settings are probably set to low in standby change it to high and that should sort ot out

+1 It's set to low power on standby.

It's a trade off, if it's on low power it uses very little juice when in standby at the cost of a very slow power up. Same applies to my Sony S480 Blu-Ray player which has a low standby power option.

Your right guys, and now I remember changing this a few weeks back. A trade off between low power consumpsion and getting grief of the wife when it doesn't power up!

I have to say that the low power function seems a bit flaky, if its starts to power up even if it takes 5 minutes it should finish powering up. I've hit the button and heard it start to power up and in 20 minutes been no fiuther along.

This sounded like my problem so I tried switching from low power high but next day i tried to swtch the HD box on it just stayed on the blue screen and said something like 'not recognised'.
I needed to plug it out and back in again for it to startup. Havent switched it back off and on again yet.

I'm having this problem too, but I never changed the power settings. It just came about by itself, and now each time I try to start it, I have to unplug it and leave it for a minute before re-starting. Leaving it for a couple of minutes doesn't help it - the time just stays on the box, and "No Signal" comes up on the screen.

Very frustrating.

The power saving it'll make to your electricity bill on low power standby will be minuscule - it's a needle in the haystack of all your other appliances. Leave it in "high power" standby, assuming the clock doesn't bother you.
