So enda, the mayo primary schiool teacher got "us lads a DEAL".

For the real gombeens, here is the story.

The loan repayment was doubled form 7.5 to 15 years. Therefore a slight reduction was seen in the overall payment per year, but in inclusive terms paddy is getting had again. So stop reading the star, mick you've been done.

Anyway, when is the next call of duty out?

wasn't it loan rejigging like this that put a lot of the general public into trouble in the first place?

A Mayo school got more time to pay back a loan...? Why are you calling me "Enda"?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

We can actually pay back the same amount every year that we were going to, but at a reduced rate. We just have more options now.

While I wouldn't want to imply that we got a great deal and all our problems are over I think it pertinent to point out that you clearly have no ****ing idea how national debt works.

The problem is that it's now become national debt. We didn't own these banks or owe anyone for their debts until recently.

It's shocking that people think this is a good thing. You're being fleeced like.

If you pick up a newspaper you'll see that the interest rate was also reduced.

What was it Stephen Donnelly TD said during the week? Something like 'the bank lending someone a hundred grand to pay off the mortgage they can't afford.'

Utter tripe from the loony FF/FG party.

Firstly , why do we have to share the pain. This is not our problem, we are been lead to believe it is our problem.

We are bailing banks out that seem to have endless problems, personally I think that we are picking the debt of a few other European countries which is been channelled threw 'our' banks.

Secondly, have these banks started to pay back any of this money yet? If not then stop bailing them out.

When you owe the bank €500 it's your problem. If you owe the bank €500,000,000 it's their problem if that bank owes €50,000,000,00 then it's everyones problem.

The banks are learning that growth has limitations and their financial system is based on infinite growth!

An immovable object next to an everexpanding bubble which gives first.

All money is loaned into existence, if all debts are paid there will be no money at all.

I thought it was 0+2=1

The whole thing is like being given a choice between drowning in a river or drowning in the sea.

    Not our debt.....

there should be austerity measures in every EU member state because the Eu is almost identical to the USA but the difference is that trouble states get federal funding with huge interest rates cause the government is obligated to help them or risk the union collapsing and the dollar weakening beyond catastrope. That has not happened in europe despit the fact that we are not really an independant country and are just member states that most abide by federal laws (EU Laws).

The bigger worry for me is there is talk of serbia and croatia joining EU and with a growing violent anger like in Oslo just yesterday which was likely fueled by an anti immigrant sentiment i fear what will happen when even more come to our shores? I really doubt that Ireland is will default in future cause we still have some attractive perks for investment since we have a large educated english/american speaking language and a low corporation tax rate. I dont think the sky is falling just yet.

The IMF is the balls that this country needs cause social welfare is far too high as it is. Yound people should not have medical cards and women should not be able to spread their legs and get a free house. I welcome the IMF if they can bring about the reforms that governments need to do but dont have the politcal balls to carry out.

What a douche. More like the bank only charging interest, and then halving the rate of interest to help you get back on your feet.

We're not actually expected to amortize the debt.

Interest only on someone else's debts is still someone else's debts.

OP if the interest rate was increased by 2% and the time for repaying loan was cut short you would be in here giving out!! Our situation is better than it was last week!!

Better than a kick up the hole!
