Whats a fair wage?

I did an interview last week (door-to-door sales) and in it I was asked what I felt would be a fair pay package for me.

I kind of stumbled over it a bit and in the end sort of said what the company feels I deserve. But I'm not sure if it's a great reply.

Have an interview with another company in the same field next week and just wondering what I should say if I'm asked it again.

Ideally, I'd be hoping for €10 per hour with added commission for sales. Ie. €5 per sale or something.

Advice and help would be greatly appreciated. :)

    Edit:

    I'm only in college

You think 10€ an hour for doing nothing is reasonable?

Anyway that was a trick question as door to door people dont pay basic, its all commision.

Huh? Did a job involving door to door sales for eight months about two years ago. Got most of my leads through the company and filled in the rest with the usual banging on doors in the area.

They paid a quite generous salary plus a small commission on targets and sales.

OP ask a car salesman what he makes. Ask the last guy who did your job what he makes. There are 1001 poxy jobs out there no fool would take.

Do they supply a car, phone, expenses?

What's the company's name and/or what do they sell?

I've heard door to door companies offering basic but i never actually heard of somebody getting it. A lot of the time the only thing these companies give you is a jacket and a clip board.

Any fair play for doing it - not easy work!

Why dont you apply to the charities instead, at least that way you know you're gonna get paid?

I'm not the charity sort of person. I'm an economics person and charity doesn't fit my vocab. right now.

I know it's a crappy job but I literally cannot find anything else out there and I'm desperate for cash.

Anyway, thread has gone way off topic here..... can we please try and get back on it?

CPM they sell Board Gais, Eircom etc, know people who have worked for them and they got a wage, bonus, milage etc. Another friend of mine works with a company selling Energia and they get a wage and the rest aswell. So not all door-to-door sales companys only pay commission

Does anyone actually have an idea what that wage could be?

It depends really. If its just commission you'd be better to say a high number say 30 grand a year witch is close to €600 a week and if its just commision it would be in there interest if you tell them you think you could make that.

If theres a wage around 20 grand ontop on sales would be fair enough
