Hi, I don't know if this query would be better here or in Genealogy - Mods please move if you wish.

I have a death cert for a relative who died in Cork Military Hospital in 1941. I know that he was in the Royal Navy from close to the end of WW1 to the early 1920s. There is half a story that he was in the British Army before joining the RN but I doubt this on age grounds.

What I am wondering is, who qualified to be accepted as a patient in a Military Hospital? Does fact that he was in an Irish Military Hospital indicate he was a member of the Irish Defence Forces or would RN service have been enough? I haven't contacted the Military Archives as yet.

    Thanks in advance.
