I would like to get my teenage stepson some trendy prescription sunglasses. His prescription is quite strong +5.25 and +7.00 and a lot of the cooler (wrap around mostly is what he likes) styles I can find online only support weaker prescriptions. Would anyone have any advice or useful experience of sourcing something similar.

I own a glasses website but I don't know if I'm able to help you as there are limited options available for somebody with a prescription like your stepson's. What is available though is if you were to choose a small flat frame (not a wrap) you can get reduced diameter lenses (not high index). (High index is also available too but the price quickly rockets when you go down that road). The smaller the diameter the thinner the lens is. This only applies to plus prescriptions. You can get a tint applied also. Really and truly your best bet is to go and speak to somebody experienced with selling glasses as they can advise you best

Endplate is spot-on...unfortunately, anything with much of a wrap is probably out of bounds with that prescription, and if you start introducing specialised higher base, high-index lenses, you're talking megabucks!
A suggestion I'd make is to check out some Aviator-style frames. Very trendy at the minute, and you can get them with very little wrap, so it'd be a much less complicated dispense.

Alternatively, he could try contact lenses if his eyes are suitable...then he could wear whatever sunglasses he wants!
