What to waer to Monday's Galway races

I know from Ladies' day onwards for the rest of the week it can be quite dressy with hats and the like but I am heading down on Monday and would like to know what goes? I went on to the galway races website but it didn't give any info on what things will be going on other than the racing itself.

Last year the Monday was racing with the stars or something similar ...there was a competition for the most appropriately dressed lady and it went to someone in a trouser suit so I'm all confused!!

Any help? Comfortable shoes, a jacket of some sort and an umbrella are preferable but how dressy can I go?

I'm from Galway, and trust me, every day is now dressy! Obvs Ladies Day is the busiest and glam-est, but not everyone can go on that day (it's pricey).. I know lots of girls who go to the other evening meets earlier in the week dolled up..cos the town is hopping all week..

Go as dressy as you want..but yes, bring your flats!

I agree with LMB, I would go dressy casual or dressy if you want! It's all dressy now and the city is mental busy the whole week :D

There was a thread on this recently, which you may find helpful.

Comfortable shoes (or flats in your bag) are a must, as is dressing weather appropriate. You can add in an umbrella as part of your outfit (Newbridge do some pretty ones), as well as a coat/shawl/scarf to keep you warm in the evening!

You can doll yourself up to the nines or just go in jeans and either won't look out of place on the Monday night. All sorts up there so either works.

I second that! Some people will get all glammed up, but the evening meetings are never as dressy as the afternoon ones. You wouldn't look out of place in jeans and flats, but likewise you'd get away with a fabulous gúna and killer heels. Whatever you go for enjoy - I wont be getting to Ballybrit this year - first time in living memory!!:(
