    Broken ankle rules Keaney out

GAA : Conal Keaney will miss the remainder of the hurling championship after suffering a broken ankle in a traffic incident this morning. The Ballyboden St Enda’s man was involved in a collision with a van while travelling to work on his motorbike.
He was taken to Tallaght Hospital where it was confirmed he had broken his ankle.
The former Dublin footballer is a crucial component in their resurgence as a force in hurling this year and a key player in their march to the league title.

His absence from Sunday’s All-Ireland quarter-final against Limerick in Thurles is a massive loss for a side seeking a first semi-final appearance since 1948.
Daly will name his side after a puckaround on Friday night.

He’ll have Ryan O’Dwyer back from suspension and Joey Boland and David Treacy fit again, but there will remain a gaping hole in Dublin’s attack without Keaney.

Jeez, what a stroke of poor luck for Dublin. Think Keaneys injury could very well be a decisive factor as to Sundays result.

Really gutted for the player himself especially - God knows when he will be back -very unlikely to play this year for the county anyway whatever about club. This seems to be Dublins year and now this happens.

I suppose off a motor bike it could have been worse.

While it is bad luck in general, I suppose it could have been a lot worse considering he was hit by a van!

There is that rumour going around but it is just that, a rumour and even if it was, more than likely it is a coincidence.

If the van was at fault here,I sincerely hope the guards do their job and charge him if it was found to be wreckless driving. If it was Keaneys fault, thats his bad luck.

In any case, it is really unfortunate that this occurred in the first place.I would rather that Keaney himself is ok than a hurling match going wrong because we're missing him.

There won't be that same buzz about the hurling and football club championships in the autumn when they start back when he is not lining out for Ballyboden.

Its been confirmed that his cruciate is torn aswell. An injury that seems to be haunting footballers this year no matter what they do!

Terrable news. Could be the end of his playing days aswell but hopefully not

If this team has really made any progress under Daly, they should win regardless of this horrible injury suffered by Keaney. Ultimately, a loss to Limerick on Sunday would be the end of this Dublin team under Daly and it would be a huge set back for senior hurling in the county.

Thats true and if they do lose there wouldn't be much point in Daly staying on because i dont think he can really take them any more then he has done

That's a little unfair. Keaney is a huge loss. It's not like losing some ordinary player that can be easily replaced, Keaney is arguably Dublin's best player. It's a massive blow. I think Dublin may well still beat Limerick but I couldn't see them beating Tipp anyway, with or without Keaney. Very unfortunate for Keaney himself too, and if the cruciate is gone aswell he'll most likely be out for a long time.
