Hi guys, I am an international student, hoping you could help on the above.

Also, which residence has a more international-friendly presence?

Gort na Coiribe seems to have the most international students who come over for one semester. Mostly Americans though :)

Gort na Coiribe has tons of international students staying in it, it'd be your safest bet, but its about 8-10 years old now. Still its a nice place to stay.

Which of the student residences are the newer ones? Anyone knows?

    Thanks

Centerpoint would be the newest I'd say, but I've never heard of any international students in there.

Heres a link to see them all (as endorsed by the college) http://www.nuigalway.ie/accommodation/student_residences.html

To be honest, Gort na Coiribe is the best option, it is the closest to college, 10 min walk, it is still new and nice and has loads of inters, but I wouldn't be searching for accomodation by how new it is, but each to there own.

To answer your main question: Centrepoint and Cúirt na Coiribe.

To answer your other question, I would highly recommend Gort na Coiribe. It's still very modern and has that "new feeling" to it. It's also very spacious and has lots of international students. That's where most of them are allocated to.

Is it really a 10 minute walk to campus? I highly doubt it.

The website also says it's a ten minute walk to Eyre Square. Not true, more like 20 minutes.

its ten minutes to campus if you walk at a somewhat decent pace. lived there the last 2 years now and getting to campus in 10 minutes is grand, getting to a lecture can take longer though, depending on where it is obviously. Once you go down the steps youre on campus like!

also yea, its more like 15 or 20 to eyre square!

but i definately recommend the place overall!

People forget about the Atlantis place. It's quite nice (slamming doors aside). A friend of mine was there a couple year ago. She said that the electricity bills were quite high, but you don't have oil bills which are only getting higher too.
