Conal Keaney looks set miss the All-Ireland SHC Championship quarter-final clash with Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds after being injured on his way to work this morning. Anthony Daly’s star forward was hit by a van while travelling on his motorbike and has injured his leg.
He was taken ot Tallaght Hospital after the accident.

His injuries are not detrimental outside of a sporting context but it is not yet known how long he will be out of action.

The former Dublin footballer is a crucial component in Dublin’s resurgence as a force in hurling, a key player in their march to the Allianz League Hurling title earlier in the year.
His absence from Sunday’s game is a massive loss for the Dubs as they bid to qualify for their first semi-final appearance since 1948.

    Match is in Thurles.

Reminds me of 10 years ago when we beat cork by a point down in the park. Sean og had been in a car crash earlier that week. That's a blow to Dublin but it might motivate them more to win it for him

Keaney is a massive loss to Dublin and one would have to fancy Limerick now as it was a close call before this happened.

The city is more rugby. They only use hurleys there to batter the hell out of each other. :)

I wonder did the driver have a plastic bag over his head. He obviously forgot his horse. :)

Bad luck for the player and after him committing to the hurling 100%. His season has to be over. Possibly the dubs as well.

On the plus side attacking options have increased with return of Ryan O'Dwyer and David Treacy -

Doubt their season is "over" coz of this.Dublin have a lot of fabulous players. He happens to be one of their best, but one man doesnt make a team.

Why would you think that this would be the case? It is an amateur game. Everybody needs to earn a living. Sometimes people forget that the senior intercounty players are are doing it for the love of the game and are often out of pocket for doing so. They still need to pay their their mortgage the same as everybody else. I wish him well and I hope that he make a quick revcovery.

a poorish limerick side? I dont think so. We're not up there with Kilkenny and Tipp, but we're certainly not poor and have many fine young players coming through.

To be up there with Tipp and Kilkenny all you need to do is build your youth.

I wouldn't give my employee time off for a match. They could take it as annual leave if they chose to but they have to make a living.
