Im trying to choose between two different types of external hard drives. It has to be 2TB or more. Obviously value for money is important. I want it to be able to connect it to my HD T.V either directly or through PS3 network. The ones I am looking at are:

Buffalo LinkStation Live 2.0TB DLNA CERTIFIED MultiMedia Network Storage with BitTorrent
    http://www.buffalotech.com/products/network-storage/home-and-small-office/linkstation-pro-ls-vl/
This drive seems to connect with my internet so I can stream stuff throughout the house, this would be awesome but I'm unsure if it connects to my T.V which is a deal breaker for me

    or

LACIE LACINEMA PLAYHD MEDIA PLAYER HARD DRIVE - 2 TB
    http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/9371940/art/lacie/lacinema-playhd-media-pla.html
Straight forward connect to T.V with HDMI cable for high quality picture and sound. Which would is better, any info, advice and suggestions greatly appreciated

It all depends on what you are looking for..if you have multiple computers in the house or a tv which has media sharing then the the first one will obviously be worth the extra 100 odd euro as you wil be able to access the files from anything on your home network..

The second one will as you said just connect directly to your tv so if you just want to throw a load of movies n watch them that would be ideal..personally I would save 100 quid n go for the second one you will also be saving on power costs by not having to constantly have both the drive and ps3 rubbing when watching stuff
