Where to get an empty keg

    Im looking to get an empty keg to use as a meat and fish smoke.Where would be a likely place i could get one ? Preferably not to bet up as ill be enamal painting it.

    You're unlikely to get one for free off a pub as they pay a deposit on them and they're also used as scrap metal so don't come cheap regardless.

    I have seen them lying about near pubs i.e. where some wains have taken a keg for a laugh and then abandoned it, so you could keep an eye out.

    Building sites tend to accumulate kegs sometimes as well but they might be a bit beat out/covered in gunk.

    Or if you know of a closed down pub in your area there might be an old keg or two lying round it somewhere.

    Thanks Ill keep eye out.Would anyone know the diameter on the valve on the top of a keg ?

    There's about 4 different types of kegs, each with a different diameter. Best get the keg first and measure the diameter.
