How exactly do they impose it? They don't have cycle licenses, and he's never going to be stopped by the Gardaí unless he's involved in a crime =/ Silly punishment, really.

"A 17 year old Dublin boy has been banned from cycling after he was accused of trespassing and cycle theft offences"

I don't know how they will impose it, he was also banned from Dublin 7 except for court appearances.

    May this be the first.

Dirty knacker, hope he gets some sick disease off his shared needles and dies.

All the cops in the capital probably know the scumbag so it may not be that difficult to impose, if he's caught again, just lock him up. .

it does seem a bit of a lame punishment but i suppose if he is ever spotted cycling by a local guard then it will be another offense on his list, should at least make him think twice about cycling if it means a night in a cell

It's not so much the punishment that matters, as it is the fact that he's now been "officially" hit by the law, meaning future offences (of any nature) will lead to the courts being harder on him. So this can only be a good thing.

    Smart decision by the judge.

Now when the little f€ck€r is on any bike for any reason, the Gardai, to whom he is more than likely well known, can stop him and say - you're not supposed to be on any bike, are you?

How many times do you think the Gardai have had this little f€ck€r dead to rights but the bike was either not or not yet reported stolen?

    +1 for the judge!

How exactly do they impose it?

the obvious solution to enforcing it would be to simply lock the little scummer up for a few years

Its judge john coughlan, a good man for the stiff penalties, some of you may remember a 45 year driving ban he gave a guy once.
