Do Bus Eireann not have a service for the above. If not where is the nearest location in Tipperary to Thurles that it prvides a service to and could you get a connecting bus to Thurles. I plan on going to the double header on Sunday in Thurles ad train fairs are fairly steep so want to check out other options.

I think the closest place you can get to by bus is Horse and Jockey on the #8 bus to Cork but I could be wrong. Maybe you could try CarSharing.ie?

There is no direct bus service to Thurles from Dublin as the hourly train basically has it licked.

The closest you could get is Horse and Jockey on route 8.

    Timetable is here:

Friends of Dublin Hurling will be bringing buses to Thurles for Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC quarter-final against Limerick (2.0). The bus will leave Connolly Station at 10.30 and The Poitín Stil at 11.00. To book a seat text 087 2331983 by Thursday 6pm. The fans will stay for the Waterford v Galway game. The fare is €10 for adults and €5 for juveniles.

The Dublin-Cork Aircoach & Bus Eireann services all stop at Urlingford for a 10 min stop. From there it's only 10 miles to Thurles. You could get a taxi or hitch - if you have your GAA colours on and hold a 'Semple' sign, you're bound to pick up a lift easily, or hook up with fellow travellers and hire a local minibus into town. List of Thurles-based taxis/hackneys/buses here if you get stuck:

The Horse and Jockey is about 4/5 miles from Thurles, again no set public transport, you'd have to hitch or taxi from there as well. Can't see getting a lift being a problem at all though, the roads will be full of fellow supporters.

Bernard Kavanagh Coaches operate a service bus: Urlingford-Thurles-Roscrea. Timetable here: http://www.bkavcoaches.com/html/time_roscrea.html
Hope this may be of help.
