Netgear WPN824v2 won't work

    Hi folks, I tried a search here for info on this but its all double dutch to me, I am a COMPLETE idiot when it comes to these things so hopefully someone can help before I start smashing things!

    I had satellite broadband installed a few weeks ago and was looking up wireless routers when I found the above model for sale second hand. Long story short i bought it, the guy just moved into a house that already had wireless so had no need for it. He was as honest as the day is long so I don't think the router is dodgy.

    There was no installation CD with it so I went to their website and followed all the instructions but no joy. Now for some reason broadband won't even work when I have a cable from the modem to the router and another from router to laptop (this worked perfectly when I first set it up). Also, my iphone is picking up the network but won't allow me to join even if I enter the only password that reared its head as I was trying to install the router.

    Anyone have any ideas, any suggestions appreciated though not going to give up on it just yet.

    Right, this is really embarrassing. Just found the switch to turn on the wireless on the side of the laptop.

    However, my girlfriend's one still won't work with it. The wireless is turned on and it says its actually connected but it doesn't work. I used the troubleshooter and it says 'Wireless Network Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration'.

    Any ideas after ye stop laughing at my incompetence?!!
