reporting fraudulent use of passport?

Hi guys, I've recently been contacted by a scammer in one of these accommodation scams, and they just wont quit - asking me constantly for scans of my passport, so I finally emailed back "Show me yours first" - I know they are either using fakes, or scans from Irish people they have already successfully scammed into sending their details, to appear more genuine. I received an email containing a jpg image of what appears to be a genuine Irish passport - now I am wondering who, if anyone, I can report this to. If this is a genuine passport scan from some poor girl they previously conned, then I'm sure she and the relevant authorities would like to know it's being used this way?

Been googling for answers and couldn't come up with much. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it!

    Thanks.

Thanks, I will call the local garda station tomorrow. I searched the foreign affairs site and couldn't find a department to specifically contact in relation to this! I usually try to find the direct route to report cause I don't like bothering the local gardaí, but I'm sure they'll be able to direct me to the correct people.

Go to your local garda station. The garda have a centralised fraud unit that work together with the department of foreign affairs on these issues.
