How do you remove radio from 02 merc E220

    I'm new here so I hope this works ok.
    I have an 02 E220 cdi (211 model) and the radio has started to cut out randomly. Well the radio seems to be working but all the speakers stop working so I asume that there is a loose connection to the speakers.
    The question is - how do I remove the radio. I called a merc garage and they told me to bring the car in as it is a "dash out" job. I don't want to pay silly money and wouldn't mind doing it myself if i had a bit of advice on where to start.
    Any suggestions?
