3 days thats it, no more no less. If you tell SW beforehand then theyll make sure your payment isnt suspended and you'll get it the following week, if you dont tell them your payment will be suspended and you wont be able to collect another payment until you go see them. I had a situation where I wasnt able to collect and it got suspended but i went down to see them and they sorted it all out. You'd be surprised at reasonable they can be about it. Moral of the story is you'll have to go see social welfare before or after.

I just read on another thread that the 3 days varies and that sometimes they can hold it for 6 days, maybe if i ring the post office i collect it at will they be able to tell me?

I'm not sure how it works. In my last post office (before I moved away) I was pretty much able to collect it any day of the week, they'd swipe my card and give me the money. In my new post office if its past the 3 days they'll swipe my card and say theres nothing here for you. In that sense i thought it was purely up to the SW and not the post office, the post office simply swipes the card and pays (or doesnt pay) whatever is on the screen. If someone knows how exactly it works I'd be interested to know.

Arent benefit reciepiants allowed two weeks (IIRC) holidays per year.

The OP's trip to Galway should be notified to the SW office as such unless they plan on looking for work while there.

No it's two weeks, which is 12 days as the working week is defined as Monday to Saturday.

Op your payment will remain in the post office until Thursday, you should really fill in a holiday form if you're heading off for the week though
