Hi guys this is my 1st post :) and id really love any help you can offer..

I got a notification in the post that my car was due to be recalled to "update the software". So left the car into the local dealership where i informed that they found 2 faults with the car. (typical)
One being that the oil was dangerously low and the second being a faulty brake light switch. The garage informed me that "they couldnt guarentee that the brake lights would work!!!" I replaced the oil & left the switch (as it wasnt definite that they wouldnt work) as i decided i would go to my own mechanic on the way home and get him to check it out. Driving home i realise that i have NO REAR BRAKE LIGHTS!! what happens next?? i called the garage and they say that the diagnostics read a fault with the switch and that had nothing to do with the recall, the brake lights were working when i went in, i have CCTV on 2 premises on that same day i went in clearly showing my lights working!

Has this happened to anybody else?

What did your own mechanic determine was the cause of brake light failure?

It is possible that the brake lights stopped working due to the software update I guess. Get on a few uk forums to see if any other people have had this issue.

He had no explanation for it either  I actually work right beside him and he would always be the one to service the car etc, hes excellent. He called the dealership himself and they fobbed him off with the "when we put it up on the computer it showed a fault" line, my breaks were 100% working when i went in there. im seriously annoyed and out of pocket now too!!!
