Help! Samsung Fridge Freezer dilemma

I have a Samsung fridge freezer which had frozen over at the back in the cooling system. I have had this happen once before and contacted the manufacturer to sort this out. This happened the first time a year ago.

It has happened again, and to cut a long story short, instead of ringing the manufacturer I decided to try and defrost it myself with a hair-dryer. Now, when I plug the fridge back in, it gives me the reading of the temps of the fridge and freezer for about 30 secs, and then the temp guages go blank and all I get is a little line flickering on it.

Can anyone tell me has this happened to them and if so, is it a big or small problem?
