    Hi,

I've a 2000 Hyundai Accent 1.3 and I think I might need to replace the ECU.
Gettin a random misfire that can't seem to be explained mechanically.

    Diagnostics codes were not clear.
    P0610 - Immobilizer smartra error
P0300 - Random cylinder misfire detected
    P0304 - Misfire detected cylinder 4

Does anybody know if you need to reprogram the keys if you replace the ECU?
Anything else that might need to be changed after changing ECU?

    Cheers.

The ECU could eventually be repaired if it is really faulty.
Before buying a new one, I would recommend you to send it to a specialist in the UK first, so they can fully test it.
The test cost about 60£, more or less and the repair about 250£, which comprises the diag if you go with the repair.

A new ECU usually is about 1000 euro, so it is worth the wait.

So to answer your question, the new ECU will need to be coded to your car yeah, but I doubt they keys will need to be recoded. VIN etc will remain the same. Anyway, if it does require the keys to be recoded, it will be done during the same process.

    I stand corrected

I have a 2008 hyundai i30 petrol and the main dealer garage has told me the ECU is gone. A new ecu fitted is working out at 1100 euro which seems very high. When i found a couple of scrap yard ECUs the dealer told me they werent compatible. The difference in cost is the second hand one is 150 but im guessing the dealer doesnt want to put in the second one for obvious reasons.
    Any advice?

I know it's not what you want to hear, but maybe they weren't ...
