Try the simple things first. Could be a fuse, check her car manual for which fuse it is, take it out, and if you can see the wire inside broken it's gone. Go to any car parts shop and get another fuse the same. Even if you can't see it's broken, might be worth changing it anyway. After that you may as well get it seen to at the next car service.

Also remember if it is a fuse, whatever overloaded it and blew it the first time, could occur again.

    Fuse?

    1. Open manual
    2. Find out which fuse controls cigarette lighter
    3. Access fuses
    4. If fuse gone, replace and goto 6
    5. If fuse OK, go to 8
    6. Try cigarette lighter
    7. If working go to 9
    8. Go to an Auto Electrician
    9. :)
