Great White Shark Leaps Onto Boat

Not quite Flying Sharks, We're all F**ked, but close enough!
Marine researchers conducting a shark population study off Seal Island, near Mossel Bay, on South Africa’s Cape coast, had a lucky escape on Tuesday when a Great White Shark leaped from the water and onto their boat.

The 3-metre-long shark breached the water before leaping onto the boat’s fuel tanks and bait boxes, sending crew members scrambling for safety to the back of the boat.

“The Cheetah”, with the shark still on board, was towed back into port by a rescue vessel while the scientists placed a hosepipe in the shark’s mouth to ventilate its gills. The 500-kg shark was winched back into the water more than an hour later.
Seal Island is so named because of the great number of Cape Fur Seals that occupy it. The waters around the island are frequented by Great Whites who prey on the seals.

Earlier this year, a dolphin injured a woman in Florida after it breached the water and jumped on to the deck of a small boat.

I'd them researchers must have near sh*t themselves when this happened.

If nobody on that boat said "We're gonna need a bigger boat", I will be so disappointed.

    That shark wins everything ever.

I'd say it was a bit of a jaws dropping moment for the people on the boat though

Great White Sharks are awesome, check out this fella, jumps 25 feet out of the sea with a seal in his jaws (ultra slow motion, takes place in seconds)

What kind of asshole researchers go out to study sharks and don't take a photo when one poses on the deck of their boat. Jesus wept.

Only one way to resolve this. We will dress you both up as obese seals and hoist you above this wee shark, one at 25 feet and the other at 20 feet. So what time do you want to be picked up at ;)

Excellent plan. And would someone ffs bring a camera!!! How does a great white shark stay on a boat for an hour, has some poor short straw shoving a hose in his mouth, and still not get photographed.

It's not that hard to gauge, the shark is 3 or 4 metres long, so 10 to 14 feet, I reckon it's no more 10 feet at the absolute height of the breach.

    Quick google found this...

Yeh, just stand in the boat 'til they jump in to get them. Dangerous tactic though, skating on fin ice.

And then shove a hose down it's throat.
    Dangerous tactics for sure.

I won't be able to scale the same heights as you two with these puns. Sure I'm only coming in at the tail end of the exchange.
