My friend bought vw passat , 08, 1.9 tdi, with big mileage(very big - 190 k kms), for cheap money, and as you expected, it's in bits... suspension... not really bad, but need some attention make it perfect.

Engine very good, no oil leaks, no smoke or strange sound, gearbox and clutch good, no any problems.

    Body fairly good.

Looking for good vw garage, who could do full test, and would give detailed report, also estimates to fix all faults.

    thanks

The AA can do this for you but they are costly.

There's a guy in Portlaoise who is supposed to be very good. George Dalton is his name. He's the kinda guy you can talk to about stuff without getting the brush off.

well consider for garage, not a person. vw garage id say have more equipment and suppose to be trained technician in that sort cars.

That guy has all the equipment and skill necessary to diagnose and fix any problem. A lot of VW heads use him over a VW garage. Obviously it's up to you it's your car but not all main dealer are very good.

most of the time, when you leave your vw car in a vw garage , it will be young lads/apprentice working on your car, unless it's a specialist job.

That chap in port laois has all the VAG testing equipment that the dealer has, will be a lot cheaper in most cases and you get to talk to him directly, not 2nd hand info from a guy in a shirt and tie in the reception area of a vw garage. He is 50 min drive from the red cow, I was using a VW garage before I started using him..up to you though, but I would recommend George Dalton Motors.
