I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials for the last year or so. No problems and it's free.

Do you have a virus problem at the moment, or is it preventative?

Yeah, its an add on when you download stuff for facebook (those emoticon things and other stuff). My parents got it on there comp and i uninstalled the programme they downloaded and it made searchqu worse. I downloaded hijack this and malware malbytes and it still wouldn't go away. Ended up completly uninstalling modzilla restarted the comp and downloaded modzilla again. It worked till my gob****e stepfather downloaded the same stupid yoke for facebook again. Now i've told them it'll be a €100call out fee to remove it again.

Try looking for the uninstaller in programs files:
    c:\program files\Windows Searchqu Toolbar\uninstall.exe

If it's there just run the uninstall.exe and delete any folders related to Searchqu as well.
    or
Go to Add-ons. Then to Extensions. You should have something called DataMngr. Disable it and your computer will be back to normal.
    or
    Download HighJackThis from this link:
    here
Scan and go through the list looking for Toolbars with searchqu/DataMngr in the name. Check what you find, and press fix.
The download Malwarebytes, update and run a full scan in safe mode. Here's the link:
    here

or you could search manually for searchqu/DataMngr, click Start and type them in the space box or try a system restore back to a time before you installed Bamboo.
