refitting an old set?

    Just getting back into playing after a fairly long lay off,my clubs are old but I'm fond of them. Their about 20 years old at this stage,Wilson Gear effect 1200's, they need a re gripping and some could probably do with a new shaft,some have a touch of rust around the head. Would it be expensive to give them the treatment or a complete waste of money. I bought them from a sign in a shop window 20 years ago for 100 pounds,no1 to sand,with a couple of wooden drivers, saw the same set in clearys for 700 quid without the 1+2 irons. So they were a good set back then, but how do they compare to to-days sets. Would a sound investment be buying a new set for a couple of hundred or refitting the old?

    Wilson 1200s were a reasonably good club but I'd splash out and buy a more modern set. I know my irons are much easier to use than my 20 year old ones (well they were forged blades and I haven't the time to get back to striking the ball to a good enough level).
