Any M4 or AR based AEG would be a good start, also are you after an ABS / Polymer or metal AEG to start off with?

Because metal is the best all round as it will last almost forever with little chance of fail.

ABS / Polymer is lighter so if your playing style will be speed, this is a better option speed wise.

As for quality AEG's stick to G&G, G&P, GFC which are at the mid to top end of things depending on which AEG model / series you buy or JG, Cyma & ASG which are in the middle end of things quality wise.

This is just one man's opinion based on what I've used over the years & I'm sure there will be others who would like to add to this thread, hopefully this is of some use to yourself.

    Fantastic thanks,

Well i have a budget of about 180-200 euro and i found this one (link above)
Its full metal and at 328 fps i think its great value but what is worrying me is the site i am buying it off says that because its jap make they wont give a 30 day money back guarantee, this kind of worry's me but its still a lot of gun for the money, as i said i am new to airsoft and want something to be taking apart and learning the ins and outs of a airsoft rifle, but just wanted to make sure that its not going to explode in my face when i try to use it :)

Any info/feed back on this rifle would be great thanks.

This Airsoft AEG Rifle is primarily design and made in China. As a result, we are unable to offer 30-days money back guarantee on this Airsoft AEG.

Its because its a china AEG not Jap, if it were made in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong or South Korea it would cost a bit more as AEG's made there are of a higher quality & much more reliable.

My advise is to look for another AEG, you may have to pay more to start with & will save in the long run as your budget is realistic for an AEG so you have options.

Also don't worry about things going boom as the only thing that could possibly explode is a hard ran or overcharged Lipo battery without a warning light / noise maker or cut off built in & even then it very rarely happens.

Here is a video about what happens when overcharging a Lipo battery: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3690260570423705609

Plus most of the time if an AEG fails it will just die & / or make uncomfortable noise until its dead, & if its taking apart AEG's, GBB's or even springers then look for a project to start or someones unfinished project not a new one as its much cheaper that way.

I have been talking to many airsoft company's in ireland and they are all saying i wont get a good m4 AEG for less then 200 euro and there pretty basic, so i think i am going to order the GS m4 as its a lot of gun for its money, so if it breaks ill be on to ask for all your knowledge and help lol, Once it arrives i will do a review on it and let you all no how it gets on as i can find very little online about it.

Thanks for all the help and comments :)

No problem, also there are loads of quality AEG's for within your budget here on boards which is the heart of Airsoft in Ireland.

    Check this out: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=934

Its the Airsoft Adverts part of boards, there are boat loads of AEG's coming & going there on a daily basis so you could pick up a bargan.

Its up to yourself, personally I've completed over twenty(20) deals for all sorts of kit in the last month alone & am planning to buy more.

Personally I wouldn't recommend ordering in your own AEG from overseas. You're probably better off buying from an Irish retailer.

Firstly, you're going to have to pay the chaps down at Customs, so the ultimate price will be noticably higher than it appears on the website. Secondly, if it gets checked out and turns out to be over the 1 joule limit, it will be destroyed (in all likelyhood that's all that'll happen, but in theory you could then get in trouble for some kind of attempted firearm importation nonsense). Lastly, if something goes wrong with it, you don't have anyone handy you can go back to for a refund or anything.

The sticker price in Ireland is a little higher, but there are real benefits to it. Ordering direct from a foreign retailer yourself has risks attached to it that a local guy doesn't. And, if nothing else, with an Irish shop you can walk in and pick the thing up and wave it around a bit. That's actually pretty important, so much of airsoft gear is personal preference, and the feel of the build and weight of a gun is really important.

If you do order it, best of luck, but if it's really your first foray into buying an airsoft gun, my advice is visit an Irish shop.

You could easy get a decent aeg for your budget or slightly more. If you are based in Dublin especially, and you can always negotiate price or bundle together with batteries and mags.

Also support local businesses, even if I saved 40 quid on a gun ordering from the far east I would still buy local.

It can cost a lot to ship the gun over I am also looking for my first gun and I think I'm going to get this one seems good: http://airsoftguns.ie/electric-rifles-aeg/338-gg-cm16-raider-m4-cqb-ris-combo-package-dark-earth.html

It's 200euro with a 9.6v battery and charger, reviews are good but it's mostly made of polymer but meant to be quite strong.

The G&G raiders are a bloody great starter aeg - I can highly recommend them. In many ways the raiders have killed off the china clones (or, perhaps, filled the gap left when the clones dried up last year for a fair bit). For the price, they're pure win. And when you consider the cost of shipping your aeg from asia, the inevitable tax-jack from customs as they attempt to rape you sideways to personally Do Your Bit to bail out the banks through taxes, as well as the potential that the aeg will be over the 1joule limit and could simply be destroyed (at your loss) - you're better off buying off an irish retailer.

To be honest I'd only go to foreign retailers for stuff I can't get in Ireland - but the raiders are pretty much standard stock for most airsoft stores.

take that mate. The Raiders are great starter AEG's. the nylon/fibre is a bit off putting at start but i have a grenade launcher on mine and now im happy it was nylon. they're so light. Most experienced airsofters buy them too, they're cheap reliable and they're G&G. the blowback is kind of pointless though but still kinda cool.

Just a note there is the GR15 raider and then there is the Combat Machine 16 raider which is the one for 200euro it has polymer rails and no blow back, The GR15 is about 230 then the price for the battery and charger could be about 50 euro more. The GR15 has metal rails and blowback. Both are G&G.

well the GR15 here is the CM. but both have their top tech counter parts. the CM16 was a carbine I could have sworn but I appear to be wrong, the Combat machines are great either way.
