Hi, I got my first choice on my CAO, Midwifery (Mature Applicant) and have applied for the grant. I am currently on One Parent Family and am worried I will have to pay the registration fees upfront because I don't have that kind of money. If I have a letter saying my grant is approved and have sent in the claim form to the college will this be alright for registartion or not? Has anybody here any experience of what the policy is on this in Trinity?

Won't be paid til the grant is approved but as long as there's no oddity in your past record you can still register etc. and you won't really be hassled.

You just don't pay it, bring the letter with ya on registration (pay the SU and gym though unless you have been assessed as applicable for non payment of gym fees). They know the form, been through it before.

Thanks for the info, good to know it's pretty straight forward. :) How much are the SU and gym fees?

Think it's 85 or 88 or something in total. Under 100 anyway.

If you're a first year and you're applying for the grant you don't have to pay the reg fee up front, as soon as you get your acceptance letter for your grant bring it to the Treasurer's office and they bill your council. Also you can get the sport centre levy waived if you're in financial difficulty. Check out the Senior Tutor's website, there's a form that you can download here.

Oh and you don't have to pay the €8 USI levy as goingnowhere says!

You must pay the gym fee but you DO NOT HAVE TO PAY the SU/USI levy

Ask the treasurers office and they will issue a revised fee form without the USI levy. The SU legally have no authority to force payment and in fact they have no idea who didn't pay it anyway

I've asked about this before, the money is for USI membership and the SU pays it to USI per head of every student registered. The SU still gets a load of money from the reg fee with out the levy.

    SEVENTY-EIGHT is the figure.

    SEVENTY-EIGHT is the figure.

Unless it's changed since last year it's €85. €77 for the sports levy, €8 for the USI levy. The USI levy is optional, and if you're in financial difficulty you don't have to pay the €77, but as I understand it you would get it refunded after registration rather than not having to pay it up front.
