Galaxy mini ap (tethering) problem

Hi, my phone is non rooted, in fact only a week old and I was trying to set it up as an ap so I could connect to the internet via the phones 3g connection. The pc see's the wifi ap and connects, but no pages are loaded... my partner has a galaxy s and it works fine.... any ideas??
