Hi people.Don't know if this is the right place for this but here goes.

I had a voicemail on my phone today from the solicitor's office that dealt with my house purchase 4 years ago. They failed to take myself and the OH PPS numbers at the time of the purchase. The voicemail mentioned that they needed the numbers for Revenue purposes. Is this for tax relief or would it be for something else?

    Most likely stamp duty.

I bought a house 20 years ago, my solicitor asked me for my PPS number and I never heard a word from the revenue.

They track property transactions above a certain threshold, it's to do with reconciling the size of the transaction with your known income. As long as the value of the purchase was a reasonable multiple of your income you won't hear anything.

On the other hand, if your combined income last year was 40,000 and you're buying a property for 1.5M they probably will take an interest and be in touch.
