Hey guys, trying to research this before I go into the dole office and the CWO as unsure of what route to take.
Just Married, I am on JSA for a year, wife is on JSB for a yearish and working casual 3 days a week filling in the x and o's form.
She has a mortgae and gets MIS. I have moved in now.
I want to do BTE so that means she would go dependent on me, but what happens the casual work dockets, does it still get worked out each week?
Finally If SW claim is in my name what happens the MIS from the CWO as the mortgage aint in my name.
    Thanks for any tips.

    I'm confused.
Are you currently being means tested with her earnings?
I don't know why you want to put her as a dependent on your claim - she would be better off staying on her own claim if she is on Jobseeker's Benefit still.
If you plan on going on Back to Education, keep separate claims - you will both get the full personal rate when you are on BTEA.

cee-jay is right however this will affect the MIS it could be reduced as your household income will have increased.

Hi there can anyone give me some advice please.

I'm not married and employed full time my salary is 29500k per annum.

My partner is unemployed and on Social Welfare.

If we married what would that mean to his payments and to my salary?

Are you currently living together? on those figures it means no means tested dole.

Thanks for getting back to me - no we are not living together

My partner is current in receipt of jobs seekers benefit which he was means tested for

If we were to marry what would this mean for him? Would my salary effect his benefit

Can you explain in more detail?

A means tested payment = JSA,you salary will be taken into account,Let us say you are means tested on €500 per week income.

€500 less 60 = 440 get 60% of that = €264 that figure is the means from your employment. If you were married the max amount for a couple on JSA (no kids) is aprox €312 therefore his payment would be aprox €48.
You would get extra tax credits.

I prob wouldn't get much tax credits

    Thanks for the information tho

    Another question!

If we had a child together and never got married what would that mean for his jobs seekers allowance?

What would it mean for both of us if we werent co habitating

If we had a civil marriage would this mean the same? Would his JSB be effected and means tested?
