Central locking and electric windows stopped working at same time???

The car is a 2001 Audi A4 (B6). The remote central locking key fob will no longer operate the driver side front door. The electric windows no longer work from any button. The red light on the drivers door that normally flashes when the car is locked and stays off when the car is unlocked is now permanently on (solid red). All fuses are intact.
Im sure someone will have come across this problem before. Any suggestions?

Hi, I posted a similar problem on my passat an hour after you :-)
Frequently this can be caused by an electronic box calle dthe comfort Control Module, or the wiring to it. It's under the carpet in the passat, probably similar in A4. If they get wet they can cause all sorts of issues - like what we have. I just wonder if something easier/cheaper could be the fix....

It feels like it shouldn't be a big problem Hopefully there will be some suggestions. When u say under the carpet where abouts do you mean?

It's under the drivers or passengers feet, that part of the carpet. If it needs replacement you might get a secondhand one, though I think it needs to be programmed to the car. If it also needs re-wiring due to water damage, maybe not so cheap.
It's one school of thought, lets see what the others say....

On a hunch I disconnected the Battery for 10 seconds, then reconnected it (pulling the fuse didn't work for some reason) It worked. That was a week ago, still going strong. Realistically I'm sure it'll happen again.
