If you are on BTEA are you automatically entitled to have the registration fees paid if applying for fees on the student grant, or is this still subject to meeting certain criteria? I cannot seem to find an answer to this.

you need to apply to your local county council/vec office to have an application assessed.
im in the same situation as you, and I am assessed on my income from the year previous.
if your dependant on your parents, then you will be assessed on their income etc.

What if you live at home but support yourself, ie own income, expenses, etc.
Are you still assessed on family basis.
    Sorry for hijack.

if you are deemed to be independant then your assessed on your own income.
if you are deemed to be dependant then you are assessed on your parents income.

it is 100% dependant on where you have lived since october the year before you go to college.
so october 2010 - present if you lived at home, they assess you on your family income.
if you lived away from home from these dates and can prove it, then you are assessed on your own income.

regardless of wether your parents dont fund you while you live at home is irrelevant to them.

    Thanks Royalmarine.

Mr Trade In, i have been wondering this myself, however from reading the forms i believe it assumes if you live with your parents you are technically dependent on them. It classifies this as "ordinarily resident with parents" on page 3 of the guidance notes.
