Glad they didn't, the Punk angle they went with is much more interesting. Anyhow that's for another thread!

Maybe they finally realised he isnt a good as they thought he was?

Made it into it's own thread.
In the weeks leading up to Money in the Bank, WWE's creative team brainstormed several different ideas for the conclusion of the pay-per-view event. The lead idea as of last week was for either one or both of the Money in the Bank winners to cash in their briefcase, ultimately resulting in Alberto Del Rio snatching the title from CM Punk. However, for at least the third time this year, creative changed their minds on Del Rio fulfilling his destiny of winning the strap.

Punk, title in tow, fled through the crowd after surprising the second generation wrestler with a kick before he was able to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase.

tbh i reckon with this storyline, the finish wasn't decided upon until hours, maybe minutes before the show went on air. I imagine WWE went back and forth with every possible permutation with Punk; evidenced by a failed MSJ and failed MITB cash-in included in the finish!

on the night it was the best possible finish; seeing alternative booking scenarios played out :)

God, Del Rio better watch it if he doesn't wanna turn out like Kennedy. How many times can this guy fail to lift the big one before WWE become discouraged? for the record I think he'll get it, sooner than later.

Ah he will. Its his destiny.

    You already knew that too.

TBH I think he needs to win it in a good feud and a proper match, I wouldn't be happy if it was a MITB cash-in at the end of a PPV.

He's so dull without Ricardo. Just a generic rich heel who has OK matches.

He's more been a terrible victim of circumstance. Edge's unexpected retirement stole him of his first and CM Punk's refusal to resign stole him of his second. Though I wouldn't be surprised if next weeks Raw ends with him as champ. It's coming pretty soon anyway.

Del Rio is an amazing heel, i was surprised they did not let him cash it in at MiTB

Surely, as Maschismo said, he will be champion soon?

I thought he'd be better on the mic than he has turned out to be.He has cut some bad promos the last few months. WWE should of put the belt on him at Mania but even before then having him lose to Christian a few times was stupid after he won the Rumble to "Main Event" Wrestlemania.

I think being drafted to Raw hasnt helped was kinda lost a bit

He needs a decent feud on Raw perhaps someone like Cena or JoMo

I think even if it is a short reign he needs one at least this year

I dont think hes a poor wrestler at all; in fact some of his moves are well pulled off.

As said though it has been circumstance. He would have had a lot more with Edge im sure if it werent for his forced retirement. I am not sure why he was drafted to Raw though; thought he was doing grand on Smackdown, but maybe its for more of a push (since Raw>Smackdown). He's never been truly whooped in a match either, he's always put on a decent show. Plus his cars are awesome.

I wonder though if there is anything there for a face turn. I dont mean now, I mean down the line...

I guess they went against the idea of him cashing in MITB and winning due to everyone guessing thats how it would end. Plus the massive reaction against the WWE had Punk lost the title straight away.

He would be champion, but CM Punk ran, ran and ran like a cheeekan

Del Rio has lost all his momentum, but whether that's down to him or down to creative, I do not know. One thing is for sure, they need to build him back up from scratch before giving him the title, I don't want another Swagger type deal.
