Complete fantasy stuff here but lets say I owned 200 acres in Galway and wanted to start my own Micro Nation with my own laws and my own currency is there anything in Irish Law that stops me from doing it?

I went to one place in Australia (Hutt River) and the guy started his own country within the country because he didn't agree with the sheep taxes. He has his own currency, his own army based in America and has over 5000 residents but on about 20 actually live there.

If Mr. Casley commits a crime the WA Police will be who he answers to.

He is just another nut job.

I thought he was a bit of a Legend when I dropped in for tea. There is a few Mini Nations out there, just wondering would it work here. Anything to stop me from starting a nation besides money to rent an army.

Offhand, the present constitution presents the State's case for dominion over the 26 counties, so laws derived from that document would be deployed against you, which would be backed up by the full power of the State.
However, using the analogy of the fall of Rome, if you manage to acquire an army of equal power it would be a case of Inter arma enim silent leges. Thus I reckon this thread is more at home in the Military section of boards.
