Wireless Connection Problems - Dell XPS 7100

I am having serious problems connecting to my router (Cisco 2425, the UPC one). I just got back after 2 weeks away (brought the desktop with me), and the desktop is no longer connecting wirelessly properly. In its usual place, it is telling me that there are no networks available, while it gave a connecting quality rating of "poor" when I moved it to within a meter of the router. Everything was working fine before I went away.

The odd thing, is that occasionally when I change properties in the router (using another computer, to try and improve the connection), the network shows up as available on the desktop (as high as 5 out of 5 bars), but then disappears as soon as I try to connect to it.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might fix this? Is my wireless card broken? Could it be caused a newly installed program or anything (I installed AVG Free while I was away)?

Any help would be seriously appreciated.

Try logging into the router again and changing the broadcast channel - it's possible one of your neighbours has a new device on a close frequency that is causing interference .

inSSIDer will tell you what channel neighbouring networks are broadcasting on .
