i fitted a bell trafo today

    schneider brand

it was supposed to be 8volt or 12 volt depending on connection

instead it was 12volt and 16volt

    is that unusual?

    supply voltage was 237v

Maybe it will be 8 and 12 with the load of the appropriate bell on it.

strange one alright. dodgey trafo maybe?

did it just say 8 or 12 volt on the spec of the trafo?

any mention of 12 and 16 or is that the reading you were getting on the meter?

I dont believe there is much strange about it myself. Most never bother measuring the voltage of them traffo`s and just assume they are bang on 8v and 12v. I just measured one here, 11v and 15v i got for the 8v and 12v terminals.
