I bought a lapotop in Holland (special offer) and have a European keyboard layout. I have it mapped to the UK layout but I cant get the backslash anyway at all. I am using Windows 7 on my laptop so any help will be useful.

Go to Start (or the lil windows logo) and then click all programs. Then click on Windows Update. There should be a list for optional updates that would contain language packs. Install the GB-en one of those.

That did not work as I could not find the update pack. I need the backslash as I am doing PHP programming and would like to be able to use it properly - Please help:)

This link has helped me in the past. (Briefly forgot the name of the program!)

Did you try start charmap? Won't fix the keyboard issue but will get you the backslash for the time being.

    Win 7
Open Character Map by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking Character Map.

    XP
    Start \ run \charmap
