Quick pics of my WE L85A2 gbbr. Seen with acog and scope riser & npas fitted. Half deafened from firing it, it's a beast of a thing. This is my fourth 'open bolt' we gbbr and prob my favourite. currently i'm waiting on madbull to release an adaptor to fit their RIS so it'll fit the fruitcage WE/ICS handguard....

Recently fitted an open bolt conversion kit for my hk416 and extremely happy with the step up in performance over the old awss system. The only real downside, imho, and it is a bit of a pain is the the finicky hop up adjustment. To adjust it you have to have a very small allen key (1.27mm approx) to adjust a basic allen key inside the chamber, which in the hk416 and l85 is very difficult to access without stripping the gun. Why WE didn't copy the innovative design of their previous g36 design is beyond me.

That aside, it's an extremely enjoyable gbbr to shoot, unfortunately for those of us who shoot lefty i wouldn't recommend it as you will prob end up getting a mouth full of cocking handle from the blowback:).

Before even attempting to fire this, I would strongly advise stripping this completely, inner barrel and hop included. it comes very dirty with a lot of grease preventing the bolt from moving as freely as it should. Clean and lube all he moving parts and teflon tape the hop rubber itself (as mine was a bit loose) to ensure as tight an air seal as possible and trust me the wait will be worth it.

With the npas fitted, it's shooting dead on under 1 joule and while consistency is not as good as my g36 it's pretty impressive, with cool down only affecting performance in the last few rounds of the magazine and I have yet to find it fail to lock back when the mag is empty. i find using good quality .28's give the best results, certainly nothing lighter than .25's. As this uses a TM stlye hop, any higher spec hop rubbers can be fitted as far as i know and i will prob be investing in a tightbore barrel at some point.

Hopefully WE continue their improvement in gbbr designs and with a bit more attention to some minor QC issues, future releases such as their p90 and AUG should well be worth the wait.:)
    Thanks to Tony@Eirsoft

Could you please tell me where to find details of fitting an NPAS to the WE L85. Can't find one anywhere!!

    Much thanks

unlike the other gun the l85 doesn't have a complete npas unit for it yet so you will have to install the generic npas ra-tech has the instruction on there site but you will need to cut parts in order for it to fit
