    Hi,

Has anyone any recommendations on double sided cassette fire places? Or has anyone ever put one into a new build? If so can i have the good and bad points?

We have a lounge and dining area which we were planning on putting two separate fire places into, we assumed that by buying a double sided fireplace that we may save in costs but we were quoted 7k for one yesterday

See attachment for an idea of what i'm after...

If you have any advice please pass it onto me, thanks

Similar query here Gulliver but slightly more complicated, we’re starting a new build soon but we’re wondering if there are any double sided fireplaces that can incorporate a ‘back boiler’ type arrangement?
    Any advice appreciated.

Hi Although the cassette will be servicing 2 rooms only 1 flue will be used, you should ensure the other is properly blocked and ventilated to avoid loosing heat up it.

Lovely stove btw where is it from if you dont mind me asking.
    Thanks

The model I was looking at does not have a back boiler. However they may offer one with a boiler, I'm not sure. PM Sent.

It's unusual to have a back boiler with them from what I gather and they're not very efficient when they have a back boiler. Could people please pm me too and I'll share the info I have too. Seems to be big variation in quotes out there.

If a mod were to move this to the prices/costs section, could I just post the info?

You're a good contributor on this forum and I know you would have no connection so in keeping with Section 3 (c) of the forum charter you can post the details here.

Aw shucks, you're making me blush... :o

    ...money's in the post

Seriously though, the stove I was looking at (which I haven't bought yet as we used the money for other things:( ) is from Boru -an irish company. It has external an air intake (which is how I found them, looking for stoves with air intakes)

There is a 700i which comes in a double sided version but it's not mentioned on the site. In fact there's very little info there. I think the 600i can be got double sided too. I was looking for a 600i single sided and a 700i double sided and got this quote:

"The RRP on the 600i is €1490.00 and the 700i double sided €2250.00."

That was November 2010 and prices could have gone up or down. I don't think they supply direct so you'll have to contact them for a dealer near you.

If you're considering the 700, it needs a fused switch as it has fans in it which blow out warm air into the room(s). As Muffler said, no affiliation with them and I've only seen the 600 single sided in the showroom, but it looked good. The only double sided I've ever seen up close is a Unilux which also looked good but I need an external air intake due to the airtightness so it was out.

I installed a double sided stove between two rooms in my build. The rooms were seperated by a cavity block wall. I more or less had have the stove picked before the wall went up, otherwise you may have to take some of the wall down or have the stove recessed into the wall. I wanted a flush finish.

The stove supplier installed the stove, I was suprised at how much the installation cost came to, but there is a fair bit detail required with lining and plastering the box the stove sits in. I think it came to about 5k including installation. One important feature is the stove has an external air supply for use with hrv. I can pm on the company name if desired.

    Hi,
I am looking to install a double sided stove into a new build. The stove will heat two rooms 1) kitchen / dining room and 2) the sitting room. These 2 rooms will be walled off with a door between them. The sitting room will be greater than a 1/3rd of the size of kitchen.
Would anybody know if there is a way of regulating the heat between the 2 different rooms?

    Hi,
The thread looks a little dead but is exactly what I'm looking for. Hoping it's ok for me to revive it.

We are starting a new build soon and are looking for a multifuel double sided inset stove with external air supply.

Gulliver / Chief99, any chance you could PM me as above? Assuming you are still active on the site!
Or anyone else who has good info for that matter.

    Cheers

I put one of these in 18 months ago.

Looks class and feels class, class price unfortunately, £6000 plus £1000 installation.

    Worth it though.

Thanks kboc. It certainly looks great but may be a little out of my price range!

I'll definitely look into those a bit further though.

I installed one about 18 months ago in my new build, it needed an external air supply and has 12KW output. It cost about 4500 delivered and as we installed and then finished it ourselves its difficult to put a figure on it but you'd probably be charged a couple of hundred for the install and then you could spend anything on your finishes around it.
The stove itself is Kobok from Slovakia and I bought it through a guy in Kilkenny, I can PM you contact details if you wish.
If I remember correctly, I searched everywhere for one with a side boiler but didn't come up with anything worth chasing, but this may have changed now...

MVHR yes, but this is totally independent of the stove.

I presume air tight means does it have an external air supply, yes. But when it is really windy out side I can see the flame in the fire move with the breeze, where ever it is coming in from I don't know. So technically it is not air tight.
