Hi! I am currently doing an MA at DCU in Sexuality Studies and for my thesis, I am researching sexual fantasy in Ireland. I am looking for any female, Irish heterosexuals who would be willing to complete a 10 question survey about the topic. The survey can be found here http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/62SC3SJ Any responses will be completely anonymous and confidential! Thank you for your help!

Why would it be a piss take?? If you want, pop over to the DCU website and check out the course, its essentially womens and gender studies with added depth with sexuality, sexuality is a huge umbrella term. For example, one of the modules covers the effects of rape as a weapon of war, and examines the use, and effects on the women and their communities of this. It isnt just watching porn movies or anything!

I know its not a piss take. I meerly thought it was before I looked at it on the DCU website. It looks likey a pretty interesting course if I had I wasn't in College myself. I do question what do you get at the end of the course? What jobs does it open up or enhance?

I like your use of the word just i.e. there is plenty of porn watching :pac:.

Lol, not much porn watching! ;) Although if you wanted to write about the porn industry and its effects on real life sexuality, thats an option too.

You could go into a whole range of areas, you could do your thesis on domestic violence and work in that area, or sex education (which this country seriously needs updating!) or working with womens rights organistions, or work in healthcare, or work in the field of disability and sexuality, or go into research areas, or literature studies for example Im hoping to finish this, and then go to the Kinsey Institute for more research into sexuality, or maybe work with CARAS in the states. Basically, its a broad area :)

hey! I know this is an old post but I couldn't find anywhere else to ask so hopefully someone is doing this course at the moment. I have an interview coming up for this and just wanted to know what people thought of it. I come from a psychology background and a couple of people have told me that as a result I might find the course a bit 'fluffy'. What do you think? How many hours per week are there? And whats the dissertation like..how long is it and do you have much freedom with it? Im sure I have more questions but I cant think of them right now haha.
    Thanks :)

Hiya, Im just finishing the course. Its very different to psychology or psychoanalysis, which I had done, its more sociology, anthropology kinda field. In the first semster it was three evenings per week, the second semester it worked out two or three depending on the times of your modules. There were only three assignments last semster, due in January, and this term there were 15. The thesis is 15000 words long, and we got from end of april til august.

There is so much freedom with it, I focused on third wave feminism, and the sexualisation of society, others focused on the sexuality of elder people or gay rights issues.

Its a pretty interesting course :)

    Hi There,

I am also interested in applying for this Post Grad in DCU next September or the year after.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Music (2.2); I know it is completely unrelated!!!! I found a full time job after college and am saving up and searching for a Post Grad that I would find interested and could find a good (and unique) career path.

I am starting to look for volunteer work to add to my application, I also have a qualification as a Special Needs Assistant that I obtained this year.

Would you be able to recommend a few places to try and get some work experience/volunteer work to help my application?

I would love to see the Sex Education in Ireland actually come into existence, as I have seen through friends and family how stereotypes and ignorance can really damage a person from a sexual and mental perspective. I really think there should be a health class in general for students in secondary school (from all ages and back grounds) in relation to sex and gender issues they might be trying to deal with.

Anything you could tell me would be very helpful! :)

Also, if you are not finished yet, feel free to send me in directions of more surveys you need filled in!
