Anyone a member or played there this year? Is it worth playing?

Thinking about playing a game there this week as I am home..

    Any advice or suggestions?

Played there with a society recently, nice challenge. Only a nine-hole so if you get out while it's quiet it's far more enjoyable.
Not a member so not too sure who has the right of way on the 1st/10th.
I'd make a point of playing it again, some lovely holes on it.

I've not played there for awhile, 3years, but I've pleasant memories of it - except near that graveyard hole. :)

On the 1st / 10th AFAIK players playing the 10th have the right of way, when there is a backlog then its every second turn between players starting the round and people playing the 10th.

Some nice holes on the course (the graveyard hole and the par 3 8th (17th) stand out to me)

The course overall I found abit flat and if I were you I'd play a more challenging course closeby like Charleville, Kanturk, Mitchelstown or Fermoy.

But, I'm sure you'd enjoy the stroll around Doneraille too ?

Let us know how you get on and find it after all the years if you do play it !

Big fan of Charleville and Mitchelstown again its been long time since played both but they were really nice courses...Mallow at the time had horrid greens although I know lads that say they improved quite a lot..Was never the biggest fan of Fermoy and Kanturk was fine once it was not wet...Again they prob all changed for the better, hopefully.

I will indeed let ye know how i get on...Getting back into Golf after a number of years away and starting to wonder why I stayed away so long..

Yes,the greens in Mallow are alot better now.
They finally stopped their idiotic policy of monthly hollowtining of the greens about 2 years ago.

Though some of the Mallow greens, up and down and up etc .... Though to be fair is it is only the 8th(?) that drives me (more) demented.

    Tough green that,along with the 10th ,13th and 6th.
They have subsided over time and are a bit unfair now,I believe that there are plans to modify them to counter the subsidence.

The condition of the course has improved over the last few years ,they finally seem to be listening to the members.

Kanturk has improved vastly in the last couple of years,as the club has pumped alot of money into drainage, of fairways and large sections of rough area too.

Let me know how you get on in Doneraile, was never there but would be interested in playing it soon

Well I played it the other day so just said I share what I taught

Have to say was really impressed with the course. Its changed a little since I was there but I taught the greens in particular were super..

Tee boxes were fine as was fairways and rough seemed bit higher then before but still fine..It's only 20euro so thats a good value..

Only downside to Doneraile is no par 5, its just 7 par 4's and 2 par 3's...

The 6th is my favourite driving hole as have to go over valley its nice tee shot. The 7th is driveable if you hit a decent drive

Other courses will give you stiff challenge but if you want enjoy few rounds cheap its well worth going here.

Has improved a mark or two out of ten since I played it 10 years or more now..I play it again someday..
