Paying to advertise locally? or spend the money elsewhere?

Is it worth advertising in my local town directory? It will probably only be seen locally (but a lot of my business so far has been local). I am getting known locally and display my product, give out flyers etc in local businesses and local shopping centre.

For the same price I could get 2 pull up banners that would hold alot more pics and text, and which I could move around to different shopping centres/events etc. around the country.

What do people think? Would my money(tight budget) be best spent somewhere other than a local directory with limited exposure, but in an area where I have a lot of custom?

I would get the banners or other merchandising material and try to get free exposure in local papers with a press release / photo opps/ competitions etc - best of both worlds then!

I also think that what you're offering is the kind of thing that when people see it in a shopping centre etc they'd be drawn over to and possibly purchase rather than look it up in a directory?
