Shortcut for proxy

    I have a little niggling thing that drives me mad. I bring my laptop into and out of work. I use a proxy in work but not at home and I find it takes too many steps to turn it on.

    Currently when I get in to work I have to go to control panel, network and internet, internet options, connections tab, LAN settings, deactivate automatically detect settings and turn on Use automatic configuration script then when I get home do the reverse.

    Anyone know of a quick shortcut to do this? Thanks in advance.

    Windows 7 Pro x64

    click start

    type proxy

    hit enter



    i think this is what you want to get to??

    when you type in proxy ya can drag and drop the icon over to desktop as well and make it a shortcut...

    you can't right click and "add shortcut" though...

    only noticed that there now


    every second helps :)

    No no desktop is always blank. OCD you know ;) But that alone has saved a number of step and seconds. Thanks again.

    I know it's been solved but this is just for reference. If you don't have Windows 7 it can be done this way. Make a shortcut to:

    rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL inetcpl.cpl,,4
