Cheapest way to get FTA channels?

Hi, just wondering if anyone can give me some advice.

So, bare with me, as I know absolutely nothing about this, but I've moved in to a place on a top floor of a building, with no TV ports of any kind what so ever, and I don't fancy any contract / bills, so I would like to get my TV set up in a once off payment and not have to worry about it again. (except for licence of course :o)

So what is the cheapest way to go about this?

As I have no TV access ports, does it mean I would have to get a sattilite dish put on the roof?

Or is it possible to just get a single box to connect to the TV that will receive all FTA channels and that's all I need to get sorted?

And if so, where is the best place to get one of these at a reasonable price, assuming it picks up most of the Irish and UK FTA channels, I'm not too worried about much else, and how much roughly are we talking here? (although having recording on it also would be amazing, but I guess I'm wishing for too much?)

If your TV is brand spanking new then its ready to receive the Irish Digital channels with just an aerial (indoor or outdoor) depending on your location, and then to receive the FTA UK channels you will also need a Satellite Dish and a Set Top Box > cheap & easy. If your TV isnt brand spanking new? then you will need an aerial (as above) + satellite Dish + set top box, only this time you will need a 'Combo box' that converts both the UK & Irish signals to the new digital format :)

Satellite Dish €50 approx / Aerial between €5 - €50 depending on your location / Set Top Box €50 for a basic one connected to the dish (for the UK stations) / Set Top Box €119 for a combo box (if your TV isnt brand new) this box will combine Irish & UK stations, this box also recordes (external Hard Drive) €70 0r €80, and that's it basically . . .

There are other boxes and devices on the market, depending on what TV you have & where you live, but this info will get you started.

So what TV have you got, and where do you live? ie; City Centre?

    Thanks for the info.

Yeah it's a quite recent tv, has HDMI, Scart etc.

So, essentially, I need a dish and receiver for FTA UK and then, can I use the same receiver for FTA Ireland, and just attach both the aerial for UK FTA and Irish FTA to the same receiver box?

I was looking to buy this for RTE etc. free to air:

    http://www.powercity.ie/?par=30-72-27880D&brands=PHILEX

    and then get

    http://www.powercity.ie/?par=10-23-28212R

and having both of those would be sufficient for both sets of FTA digital TV and that would be all I need?

And do I need a receiver / box for RTE FTA and if so, can I use the same receiver to hook up both aentenas to?

Or would I need to get seperate kit altogether for Irish FTA like the following:

    http://www.powercity.ie/?action=laptopbacker&pcode=WP12DT

(if you were REALLY REALLY helpful to someone clueless, maybe you could point out exactly what in the cheapest form from the powercity products I would need to get to have full FTA for UK and Ireland? I would really appreciate it... list is here: http://www.powercity.ie/?action=&par=10-23&cat=Saorview+Box+-+Satellite&action=brandstory)

    one of these
plug in an aerial , a satellite dish and away you go ..has some limitations (read the thread)
but will give you all the channels on one box,

Alternatively you could go for a sat box (for all the uk stuff )and a full 7 day epg.
and an separate saorview certified box (if needed) for the irish stuff.

what make and model is your tv? will it receive saorview?
