Anyone planning on doing a season long accum with the "winter" leagues?

Man Utd, Crawley, Luton and Barca to win the Champions League works out at 125/1.

Something to look at certainly esp after that fella won a packet last May. (I think)

I'll probably do some outright bets just in my excitement for the season being back. Good christ I've missed decent football.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,377 ✭✭✭Warper

Think Schalke are a decent price @ 20-1 for the Europa League considering they made the CL semi's this year. Spurs arent a bad price@ 14-1 but you just can see them messing up somewhere along the line

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,317 ✭✭✭Yardie

Will be doing some accums. One's to watch:

    PSG for Ligue 1 @ 7/2

Bayern Munich for Bundesliga @ 8/13 and Champions League @ 25/1- Final on in Allianz Arena and Bayern have made some top signings.

Malaga for Top 4 finish @ 7/2. Toulalan, Mathiejsen and Van Nistleroy could be decent signings and Jaoquin may do a job too..Also linked with Diego and Pastore. Pelegrini is a top manager too.

West Ham for promotion @ 13/8. If Allardyce keeps most of squad they should be far too strong in Championship

Brighton for promotion @ 7/1 could be worth a look too.

Championship Relegation- Coventry @ 2/1 ( In trouble financially- may be docked points) and Birmingham @ 12/1( Yeung is a disaster, losing lots of players too)

Bankers: obviously Porto should kick on granted they maintain current squad- 1/2 on William Hill, Man U for prem and Barca for La liga

I'd never back a team for the Europa this early when you don't know a lot of the "main" teams that will be playing in it i.e. the teams that finish 3rd in the CL Group stages.
I remember some years ago asking a bookie for odds on a CL team winning it when they were 5/1 the field with only the Europa teams quoted.
7/4 was the reply, they were taking about 120% on the book and also had the 7/4 fav not quoted .

Ive just the one (optimistic) accum done so far...

    Liverpool top 4 finish @ 11/8
Luton Blue Sq winners @ 11/4
    Huddersfield promotion from league 1 @ 11/8
Birmingham promotion from championship @ 9/4

    10 returns 687

Fancy them all but theres always one to let ya down:pac:

    Yep..... Liverpool

Possibly a shock winner in Serie A. I have a feeling Pastore may head to Napoli and if Inter keep stumbling and AC keep aging, then who knows.

They signed Inler from Udinese too which will only strengthen the midfield. Good shout that..

EDIT: 22/1 with PP, Im sure yal get bigger price elsewhere

I know what you mean but the value is gone for a lot of teams by that stage. Last year i had Porto backed @ 22-1 from the start and were nowhere near that by the time the CL teams came down. Plus AFAIK no CL third placed team has ever won the Europa Leage/UEFA Cup. Plus the third placed teams are generally pretty average with so many poor Champions in the CL proper.
eg 2011 teams dropping down from CL: Twente, Benfica, Rangers, Rubin Kazan, Basel, Spartak, Ajax and Braga.

    No real big-guns there.

Malaga in the running for tevez

If they get him snap up that top 4 finish @ 7/2

Two of those contested a semi-final between them. Fair point you've made though.

I think Cardiff are decent e/w value @20/1 for the championship with PP (9/2 for promotion).

They've been pretty busy in the transfer market and if they get Kenny Miller I don't think the price will remain that generous.

Good shout that. Though the loss of Jay Bothroyd will surely affect a team that are prone to shaky times at their best.

I'm going to throw a euro on about 10 of these.

Crawley, West Ham, Sheff Utd returns odds of 198/1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,223 ✭✭✭Backstreet Moyes

Stupid Boylesports only win markets for European Leagues. So 250/1

Luton to win Blue Square 11/4
Crawley to win League 2 3/1
West Ham to be promoted 11/8
P.S.G. to win French League 7/2
Bayern to win German League 4/7

Last €1.34 in my account a few weeks ago returns €1800.

Bayern to win German League 8/15
    Barca for Champions League 2/1
    Celtic for Scottish League 8/11
Man City for Carling Cup 11/2
West Ham to be promoted 11/8
    Chicarito top Premiership scorer 9/1

I've tipped it in the rugby forum but if you're looking to boost any accumulators I think Ulster are way overpriced to win the Rabo Direct Pro 12 (formerly magners league). They won't lose too many guys to the World Cup, they've got some great young players in their second/third season, they've got a brutal draw in the Heineken Cup meaning they'll probably play weakened sides by the end fifth/sixth round if they're out of running. Add in the fact that there's the six nations and the heineken cup knock outs they're way under priced in my mind. I've done a nice sized single but am adding it to an accumulator for the lolz!

Have one, very speculative mind, so far.

Hearts tow in Scotland outside the big two (8/11)
West Ham to win the Championship (4/1)
Australia to reach RWC final (6/5)
    PSG to win France (10/3)
    QPR to be relegated (13/8)
Kilkenny to win the hurling (11/8)
Kerry to win the football (13/8)

    30 pays out 40,422.13

    Very speculative!

Was really a toss up between Kilkenny and Tipp to be honest! Just think that Kilkenny will be out for serious revenge for last year. Could go either way though.

And I have to go for West Ham, thus committing the cardinal sin of gambling and backing your own team...

PSG are 14/1 to win the Europa League, they are way overpriced considering the business they have done this summer. They signed Pastore the other day apparently.

Did it with Boyles. Tried it again and you can still do a double or accumulator on Barca to win both, good luck.

Edit; Sorry Boyles is going slow on me so i'm not sure what the story is, mine above is an Eight-fold bet so maybe thats why i could do it.

The Big Kickoff is in the Racing Post. Extensive analysis of all the ante=post bets.

One I think could be worth sticking in too is Mario Gomez top scorer in Bundeslig @ 10/3. If he stays fit he'll easily top 30 goals

Yeah tonnes of stuff. Goalscorer Markets, ref stats, over 2.5 stats etc..You can get an online edition on the Rp website but I'll post up the highlights of it when I get chance to crunch some numbers on value accumulators.

Value for PSG has gone now. Lille, Marseille and Lyon alll with shot of title..Man U are too short IMO too.

For the nPower Championship, it has the following as tips

    - 4 pts coventry relegation
    -2 points derby relegation

-1 point each way bristol city +24 season handicap
    - 1.5 points each way mackail smith top scorer
    - 1 point each way adam rooney top scorer

then season match betting they have -
    5pts leeds to bt middlesbrough
    6pts milwall to beat derby
5 points doncaster to beat barnsley
4 pts peterborough to beat coventry

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,980 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

Sound. Any chance you want to throw up the other English league ones and European? Personnally I'm not looking for match bets or top goalscorers, just their opinions on winners, promotion and relegation.:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27 _Tipsbymark

    PL

Virtually any outright tip in the whole thing is for Man Utd.
They tip Man U- Man C straight forecast 1 pt

Cascarino tips 2 pts Norwich top promoted team and 3pts QPR to be relegated

Mark Langdon tips 5 points Norwich to be relegated and 2 points blackburn to be relegated

1 pt bolton lowest scoring team

Kenwyne Jones, Hernandez, Suarez, Bent and Sturridge all get top goalscorer tips from different places

Steve Bruce is tipped by two people to be first PL boss gone

Then Swansea is tipped to be top promoted club 3 pts. ( They virtually tip every permutation regarding the 3 promoted clubs )

On the season handicap betting they go 1 pt United +0
    1 pt City +6

Then .5 point on stoke without the big six.

I got crap odds compared to the rest

Man Utd @ 9/5 Premier League
    Barcelona @ 4/7 La Liga
    PSG @ 21/10 Ligue 1
    Celtic @ 4/7 Scotland
    Bayern @ 8/15 Bundesliga
    Leicester @ 4/1 Championship

    163/1

Any chance of getting it up by tomorrow? :o

Most of it already covered by Mark.

The info on European leagues is pretty meagre and will be covered more extensively in the Friday editions of the RP before the leagues kickoff, so Bundesliga special this Friday.

Some ones they mention as alternatives to the favorites are worth considering

Portugal- Sporting Lisbon @ 15/2- have made good signings, Porto lost Villas-Boas, Falcao/Hulk could leave at Christmas

    Holland- PSV @ 7/2

Italy- Napoli @ 25/1- They have held onto their best players and added Inler and a couple of others. Great price. They recommend 2pts e/w

    Teams highest % over 2.5

    Italy: Palermo 71%, Inter/Juve 55% (Lowest Bologna,Parma,Lazio-34%)

    Germany: Munich 68%, Stuttgart 65%, Hannover 62% ( Lowest Dormund 41% Mainz 44 % and Hamburg 47%)

    France: Sochaux, PSG, Marseille- all 58% ( Toulouse/Auxerre 29%, Brest 32%)

    Spain: Bilbao 74%, Sociedad 71%, Malaga 63% (Gijon 32%, Villareal /Levante 45%)

    Gone with the following accumulator:

Messi top scores in la liga
    Swansea to be relegated
    West ham to be promoted
    Bayern Munich to win Bundesliga
    Stokes top scorer in SPL

10 euro returns 1166. Will keep things interesting for a while :)
