I want to polish and wax my car so it looks like new. Does anybody on this forum have and tips on products or methods used to restore the bodywork, trim and alloys.

    Many thanks in advance

i've used cutting compound to restore the paint on a few cars. It depends how weathered your paint is though. This stuff is extreme enough. Is the car just a bit dull or is it faded? As for the trim you can get a small bottle of trim detailer. Think it's only for black plastic trim. It's like a white cream and brings grey back to black. Needs a few coats too. What kind of alloys do you have, painted chrome...?:D

Thanks Roberto for the reply. The paintwork in this case is not very weathered. I would describe it as just being a bit dull with the odd light scratch and paint chipped from road chippings. They flaws in the body work are not very noticeable but I suppose I am a perfectionist and would like to improve the finish. I have bought a machine polisher from Aldi - have you any thoughts as to whether its a good idea or not to resort to machine polishing. Any tips would be gratefully received.

My alloys are chrome. Is it possible to clean these, then polish them and then wax them like you would do with the car body work so that they would be easier cleaned in the future ??
