Help - I am being tormented by repeat emails from a trustworthy source i.e it's somebody I know. I emailed them yesterday with a query and had an answer but since then I have 24 more identical emails from the same address but all sent at the same time. They have arrived in batches during the 24 hours since the first one arrived. Any ideas as to what is happening and how can it be stopped?

A guess is the server doesn't know that the email was delivered and keeps on trying, can you log in directly to your email mailbox and delete the email there.

    Hi - It's just a Yahoo email a/c so I don't understand what you mean - I forgot to mention that I'm a technophobe too! :D

You could probably figure out if it's a Yahoo problem by comparing a few headers (Actions > View Full Header). Look for the Received line showing the time Yahoo received it from the sender's MTA... if these times are identical over multiple copies, it's likely a Yahoo problem. If the times differ, it's a problem at the sender's MTA or email client (it was sent multiple times).

25 is nothing though - some clown sent me 875 copies of a spam early hours of Sunday morning. Not sure if I upset a spammer or if their script was broken.

My college email went a bit bananas recently because a mailing list wasn't configured correctly, or something like that according to the IT department. Lead to around 180 responses which seemed to annoy a few people as they were obviously getting them through their phones.

If you're getting the same email multiple times it's probably something gone funny, if you're getting 'hi, have you visited [link], they have really great prices' 10 or 15 times, the other person's email has probably been hijacked or it's sheer spam.
